These days we have followed with great pain the devastating effects of DANA that has devastated several areas of Spain, the Valencian Community and, in an extreme way, the province of Valencia. We are facing a catastrophe that possibly exceeds the flood of ’57 and most of those that our country has experienced in recent history. The number of human losses is heartbreaking, and from the Polytechnic University of Valencia we accompany their families and friends in their pain.
Different initiatives have been put into operation from the university centers of the Polytechnic University of Valencia:
The ETSICCP, in collaboration with the College of Civil, Canal and Port Engineers, has invited the students of the Master in Civil Engineering to join as volunteers in expert tasks.
The ETSA has launched a project to more efficiently coordinate volunteer work, in collaboration with the Picanya City Council. Register as a volunteer and you will be part of a brigade.
The departments and research groups of the ETSIAMN have donated personal protective equipment (PPE) from their laboratories. School kitchens are available for food preparation and have been volunteered for clean-up duties in the most affected areas.
ETSIADI is collecting safety materials, such as protective glasses, boots and gloves. In addition, they are preparing workshops to make shovels using wood and planks, with the aim of facilitating cleaning in the most affected areas.
The ETSIT is studying how to manage the financial donations that they want to make from the telecommunications schools in the rest of Spain.
From the Faculty of Fine Arts, vans are being used to transport materials to the affected areas.
