GRANTS FOR UNIVERSITY STUDENTS AFFECTED BY THE DANA FROM THE MINISTRY OF SCIENCE, INNOVATION, AND UNIVERSITIES

On November 29, 2024, the Official State Gazette published Royal Decree-Law 8/2024, dated November 28, which establishes urgent complementary measures within the framework of the Immediate Response, Reconstruction, and Relaunch Plan to address the damages caused by the DANA in various municipalities between October 28 and November 4, 2024.

Title V of the aforementioned Royal Decree-Law includes “Support Measures in the Field of Education and Universities,” and specifically, Article 46 provides for the direct granting of subsidies to university students affected by the DANA.

These grants can be applied for by university students (enrolled in studies covered by Organic Law 2/2023) who reside in any of the municipalities listed in the annex to Royal Decree-Law 6/2024 of November 5, and who also meet one of the following conditions:

1. Either they themselves or their family unit meet the requirements to be eligible for housing aid established in Article 3.2 of Royal Decree-Law 6/2024 of November 5, and have submitted an application for such aid.

2. If they do not meet the requirements of the first condition, they must have lost their study materials or had them rendered unusable.

Amount of Aid: Maximum of 600 euros per applicant
