In the last meeting on the management of DANA, the Rector of the UPV, José E. Capilla, thanked the university community for its collaboration in the recovery process and highlighted the importance of a coordinated response. Among the proposed actions is the organization of volunteer brigades, coordinated by the Vice-Rector for Art, Science, Technology and Society, with the support of the Student Delegation. To facilitate transportation, the organization of buses for volunteers will be evaluated.
In addition, the creation of a Social Fund to support those affected and the possibility of launching crowdfunding campaigns was discussed. In terms of infrastructure, the UPV will evaluate the availability of provisional spaces to house affected students from other educational levels.
A survey was also proposed to identify the specific needs of the students and work will be done on a database of experts and an information point to optimize communication and access to resources. The UPV thus reaffirms its commitment to support and solidarity with the community affected by DANA.
